This song follows a structure of traditional Kulintang music specific to the T’boli tribe of the Philippines. In their tradition, compositions usually scale from the low Kulintang gongs, ascending to the higher gongs, then descending back.
“Senselong” refers to a gong playing technique that features “a meeting of the hands.” Traditionally, Senselong only has Agong and Dabak as its accompaniment. We created new rhythms on the Sarunays to accompany the song, as well as the breaks and vocables during its ascending and descending movements.
